Hanko van Beinum
Hanko van Beinum has been consulting with clients on large infrastructure projects particularly in Information and Telecommunications technologies in the private and public sector since the 1970s. He has university qualifications in maths, physics and operational research. His 30 years' experience as a consultant in information and communications technologies covers areas such as market research, mathematical modelling, demand forecasting, business planning, technical planning and investment appraisal for clients in the UK, Europe, North America and the Middle East.
Hanko has worked for the Economist Intelligent Unit, and held senior positions with international consulting engineering partnerships Mott Macdonald and Dar Al Handasah (Shair & Partners).
Over the last 15 years he has:
· Helped set up the conditional access and subscriber management system for British Satellite Broadcasting (Now BSkyB);
· Evaluated the billing systems of Romanian Telecoms in collaboration with KPN, a Dutch telco;
· Carried out business planning and detailed evaluations for the mobile satellite service provider arm of OTE, the Greek telecom operator including billing and authentication;
· Business planning and design for application of GSM licence in Kazakhstan, including a billing and operational support system, on behalf of a Saudi Oger, a Saudi investor;
· Business planning and design for financial appraisal of the development of Internet infrastructure for Lebanon on behalf of the Lebanese Ministry of Communications including tariff modelling.
Hanko also ran a consultancy service called Gnossi Ltd, whose most recent project was an inward investment strategy and feasibility study for a UK client into South Arica.
